Isn’t it great? - You know us living here in the future! The
calendar says 2007, and most scifi-movies about the future take
place in the years that closely follows the year 2000… Even in
“Star Trek”:http://www.startrek.com/ earth gets contacted by the
“Vulcans”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulcan_(Star_Trek) in the
year “2055”:http://www.thewellers.com/startrek/enttm4.htm. And yet
there is a lack of all the cool future gadgets. There is offcourse
the “Segway”:http://www.segway.com/, thats kinda futureish (and I
totally want one!! hint hint) - But thats pretty much it… the
greatness of the future begins to fade…
Its not as if people don’t try,
they really do - But its like “Master
Yoda”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoda says: “Do or do not - There
is no try”. The latest failure I have come across is the “Trafic
information
service”:http://www.trafikken.dk/wimpdoc.asp?page=document&objno=2036
and their shabby “Speech
recognition”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speech_recognition that
was estabilshed while expanding the
“Motor-O3”:http://www.trafikken.dk/m3.asp?page=dept&objno=84017
“motorway”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorway that encircles
Copenhagen - Man does it suck! You call
“1888”:http://trafikken.dk/wimpdoc.asp?page=document&objno=91331
and is greeted by a friendly voice that tells you what todo, and
then completly ignores what you say. The word “København” is
interpreted most times as “Køge” and for some odd reason the
friendly voice keeps insisting on telling about Motorways in
Jylland, as if I care when I’m driving around Copenhagen some 200
kilometers away… “Do or do not - There is no try!”
